Contravene

Contravene 是一个动词。它比普通的 break (打破) 或 violate (违反) 更正式,常用于法律文件或正式辩论中。

  1. The proposed changes would contravene the existing building regulations. (提议的修改将违反现有的建筑规定。)
  2. Such a policy would contravene the principles of free trade. (这样的政策将违背自由贸易的原则。)
